“What has my wanderlust gotten me into now?,” I asked myself as I carried my bags out of the Bangkok International Airport in Thailand. I had decided a few months earlier to visit “the land of smiles” and to fully explore the country, and perhaps even Cambodia. But in a sense of adventure, I had also decided to make no reservations and not to prearrange any tours. Armed only with my trusty “Frommer’s Thailand Travel Guide,” I tackled Bangkok, and over the next 17 days would explore a huge part of Thailand and most of Cambodia by plane, train, automobile, bus, tuk-tuk, boat, motorcycle, truck and elephant. What an adventure it was to be!
Just a few of the modes of transportation I employed in Thailand! |
